this morning I had the joys of waking Beth up to go to church as I often have to do when we are in Horsham. The service being a parade service was slightly more dumbed down than usual but it was a good service. Afterwards we talked to Philip Duffin our organist for the wedding and Beryl who is doing the church flowers and then headed into town. Due to my mothers worrying we went to Moss Bros where I tried on some suits for the wedding. We sorted out what we wanted after about half an hour and paid the whole lot in one go, we are now £434 lighter than we were before… nice. We went home for lunch and then at 3pm met David Chapman for a marriage lesson he asked some relatively probing questions but I think he was happy with the strength of our relationship and it was useful for us as it gave us a chance for a third person to asses ourselves and let us delve into areas we may not have been before. Beth also asked about becoming a Methodist and we set a date for that on the 7th July when our next marriage class is. After our time with David we went home and tidied my room getting rid of things I was never going to use again and for a change it wasn’t solely Beth’s idea.
In the evening we had a BBQ which was done by my father and was very good. I then went round to Granddads house for a short while and sorted him out with his new computer. I got his problem of not knowing how to install his printer sorted quickly and was soon home again. 10mins later we were on the train back to London so it was a pretty hectic end to the day. During our time in Horsham I also showed Beth my old bike and she said I should do it up for her as a wedding present… suits me.
When we got back to London we told my parents the journey had gone well but that we had gone the wrong way and were trying to find our way out of Portsmouth. They fell for it and humour ensued.

I spent the morning today waiting for Beth to finish work which she eventually did at 1pm. We dallied around for an hour or two before heading into central London. We started with a little trip into Putney to post things but then wandered to the underground station and got on our way. In London we did a little shopping in some shops for Beth and then my film and crime book shops before heading for Chinese buffet. After Vicki’s birthday party which saw us go out for Chinese buffet in Kingston I wanted to go to the one in central again to see which is better and the London one won hands down. After the meal we went to Sanctuary in Methodist Central Hall which was a nice service as usual, its just a bit of a hassle to get to if you don’t have reason to be in central London. We got home from it at around 10:30 and went straight to bed.

I spent today doing work, well I would like to call it work but it was just website stuff. I put up reviews for Hitman (rubbish) and Indiana Jones (a little less rubbish) on Talote. I also spent some time bug testing Craig’s new multi image uploader for the gallery he has made (which I run an older version of). It will soon look more like these screenshots:
The layout for the new galleryObviously on my site it will fit in with my template but it at least gives an idea of what it will look like.
The uploaderHe will also have a rather cool looking facebook style image uploader so you can see a thumbnail of each image in a folder as opposed to having to pick them in an individual manner. These screens are probably about a month away from completion so look forward to wedding photos in this fashion at the end of August. Go Craig Go!!!

Today I had my job interview at Future Publishing which has a rather nice new office in Marylebone. This is the interview I mentioned a blog or two ago that I was now in two minds as to whether to even turn up due to the commute it would involve with Beth working in Canterbury. I left the flat at 9:15 in the morning with my interview at 11. I badly mistimed though and was in Marylebone by 10:15. I therefore just spent some time wandering around. To begin with I tried to get into a small park which proved to be rather private (I believe it was also in Notting Hill and Sweeney Todd) and then went and sat in Regents Park for ten minutes talking to my father on the phone. Once inside the job interview went well and they seemed really friendly, I told them about the commute I would be doing and they agreed it would be tough. They were complimentary about me, however, saying I was a good candidate and that if I ever wanted to apply for another position at Future I would stand a good chance if I didn’t get this one. It was good experience if nothing else though, also I got to see the editor of Official Nintendo Magazine as I walked through and also saw how gaming based their offices are.
When I got home from the interview I watched the Terry Gilliam film Brazil which I thought was over long but has grown on me since I finished watching it. Like Twelve Monkeys before it it has a strange style which takes some time to get used to and certain things make no sense and detract from the enjoyment of it. Ah well, I was glad I watched it. I spent the rest of the day playing games and relaxing after a couple of weeks of working a lot. I also came up with an idea for Christmas when we go over to America for the American reception. Beth has some dollars she needs changed into pounds so I figured we could buy my families and Paddy’s plane tickets with her dollars and then they could pay us back in pounds thus transferring the money from one currency to another in the progress.
I luckily got some more time today to talk to Beth and I went through this idea with her and she seemed to think it was a good idea. Just as a heads up, I find out about the Future job either Thursday or Friday (I’ll give you a clue, I know as I write this).

Done me some catching up today, I have written the 17th to the 20th of May.
I had a weight on my head for most of this morning what with Beth today finding out for certain if she got the Canterbury job, sure she was the top choice but it all came down to whether the minister was satisfied with her answers on the subject of her immigration. Work was good and I had a busy day with Esther who is essentially Assistant Manager but has a silly title instead. It was quite quiet on the customer front but we had quite a lot of other stuff to do but at least the day went quickly.
At the end of work I got an email to say that Beth had been confirmed to have gotten the job from Canterbury so at least now we know where we are living in September. I now get the task of finding us somewhere to live in Canterbury. Pasta night was good tonight as we had seven which is more than the last couple of weeks. We followed it up by finally watching the third Indiana Jones film and then I had to relatively rudely (sorry) get everyone out of my room so I could have some me time watching the BTCC highlights from Thruxton and trying to get hold of Beth (something I annoyingly failed to manage). The BTCC stuff was good though and I am really getting into the championship again after a couple of seasons of not being too bothered. Today was a good day, I was able to answer a number of questions in my head about our future and the problem now is on Wednesday I have a job interview for a job I don’t particularly need. As fun as commuting from Canterbury to London would be, I have looked it up and it would mean getting a 6:40 train in the morning and then getting back at 8:50. As nice as that would be normally I can’t help but think that would be even less fun as a newlywed.

This morning I went to church with Demelza and Craig and heard about Craig terrorizing dancers and making them cry at the Jazz Hands show last night. Not that I have much sympathy having lived with a dancer last year who proved to be not very nice. The service was good and I got to talk to Rob after it again. He worried me by saying for Beth to get a job in the UK she would need a fiancee visa before she comes back to the UK this week. I am not entirely sure this applies to Beth as she has a visa currently anyway which doesn’t run out till October. I then went to the pub with Craig and Demz for lunch which was good as always even if the staff were a bit annoying.
In the afternoon Craig came around and played games (albeit getting distracted and talking to Cathy for 20mins). He left at 6pm and I started researching wht we wouldneed to get Beth for her to be allowed to work in the UK after we marry. It seems she either needs Leave to Remain or a spousal visa. Basically I figure if we both go down to the home office in Croydon after our honeymoon we can sort it out then and pay whatever fee we need to get her able to start work on the 1st September.
I desperately wanted to talk to Beth about job stuff this evening but she was not around which made me frustrated and anxious about what was happening on the job front. Eventually I got to speak to her quickly on the phone but it did not do much. Oh well.

Today was the first Saturday I had worked with just two of us in. It went alright though and we managed to stay on top of things and record a relatively successful Saturday. That is essentially all my day entailed as when I got home I just played games all evening and then went to bed relatively early.

I am still in the work habit of waking up far too early to go out and so at 9:30 I went into Putney and did some shopping. I got stuff for Cathy’s birthday and also a new summer outfit for myself while at work (which only cost £10). When I got home from Putney I played games for a while including against Danielle. In the evening we all went into Kingston for Cathy’s birthday party at Frangos which is essentially Nandos with a different name. It was a nice meal though and I was impressed by the number of people who turned up for the meal. Afterwards we all migrated to a pub I couldn’t tell you the name of if I wanted to. I didn’t drink anything due to having a lot of free Coke refills in Frangos and went home with Vicki at around 11:15. We got the bus together and then walked back to the estate before saying our goodbyes. I went to bed near enough immediately.

I had work today and have nothing to report from it. At lunch I did meet up with Cathy though and we had lunch by the river again before going to Sainsburys. When I got home from work in the evening there was a small pasta night with just three of us (Vicki came over) and then we followed it up by trying Ninja Reflexes which Lovefilm sent me. Its not bad but it only has six mini games and they don’t take much effort to do. Vicki then went home and so I played ExciteTruck with Cathy, she still seems to be better than me at most tracks and we finished relatively evenly win wise. So it was a good evening after a busy day.

This morning as it was such a nice day I walked to church. I did, however, do this much slower than usual as I was wearing a long sleeve shirt and did not want to build up a sweat on the walk. I managed this task and read a good few pages of David Coulthard’s autobiography which I have started today, it is pretty good so far. The service was good today and after it I had a ten minute chat with Rob with whom I finalised that he would be able to do the address at the wedding leading to us being able to print the order of service.
I walked home again, this time I sped up a little bit so that I could watch as much of ITV’s F1 coverage as possible. I was rewarded with what ended up being a good race with Lewis on a different strategy thus making it more interesting. Lewis pitted three times in the race compared to everyone elses two. His reason for doing this was his tyres were going off quicker and so he didn’t want a puncture like in last years race, he was able to pass Massa on the track which was the highlight of the race and he eventually came 2nd ahead of Raikonnen but behind Massa. This is a good result as it pulls him closer to Kimi. Hamilton’s teammate meanwhile did rather worse after a first lap puncture he was pretty much last for the rest of the race. It was a good race though.
Next up came Fulham’s fight for survival in the premier league. This week saw the last round of games in the league for the season. Fulham were in a prime position to survive but they had to win as their rivals could still stay up if Fulham lost. As Reading and Birmingham both managed to score Fulham sank back into the relegation zone before a relatively late goal from Danny Murphy put Fulham ahead against Portsmouth moving them out of the bottom three. I kind of feel sorry for Reading and Birmingham as they were able to get good wins and yet it ended up meaning nothing. At the same time though I was delighted when Fulham scored and then went on to win the game. Hopefully we will have a better season next time with a decent manager with us from the outset. I talked to Beth for a little while and then went out to get some celebratory cider from Londis. GO FULHAM!!!
Also my father said if I were in London and got a Fulham season ticket he would get one also, that might be quite fun.
