First some apologies. First, I apologise for the lack of posts in the last few months. I have all the information on the days stored and I can catch up when more time presents itself. Second I apologise for the problems with the theme presently, if you go to a post only view (where you leave comments) or go to another page than the home page the screen loses its style. I am trying to work out why this happens but in the mean time accept my apologies.
I started the day by playing F1’06 for the PS2 which is still the best F1 game available but Codemasters are developing a new one for next year. I started 18th on the grid after crashing in qualifying and finished 3rd, a good race. I followed this up by calling the Home Office and finding out how we pass their credit check thing to make sure we can support ourselves. They said they take the previous three months pay checks when they do it.
Next I called BT as according to their website it costs £125 to set up a line and I wanted to clarify this. Basically the nice northern guy on the phone explained that because the line was already installed and just need connecting after the previous tennant moved out and cancelled his service this fee would be waived. Therefore it is always worth checking before paying large amounts of money. I then proceeded to spend the next 50 minutes on the phone to the guy as we worked through options and set up mine and Beth’s phone and internet services. We are getting out phone line rental for £12 a month and then the internet for £20 a month, not bad I think. The guy on the phone also reckoned we should get a decent internet speed of 6mbps which is a lot better than I have been used to when away from Horsham. I think that is likely to be my longest phone call ever.
The rest of the morning I spent filling out an application form for a caseworker position with Kent Police, sounds interesting but I am still holding out for Nationwide to get back to me, I may well try calling them again at the beginning of next week. In the afternoon I went to work at the Centre as Doug wanted someone to cover the bookshop while he was on lunch. I ended up staying for three hours and it was moderately busy, not to Wesley Owen busyness but not bad. When I got home I had Beth complaining about being ill but I put it behind me and enjoyed pizza for dinner. In the evening we played scrabble and then Helen joined us for some Smash Bros on Wii before we went to bed.

This morning after Beth had headed off to work I got the train to Horsham whilst reading my book Black by Ted Dekker which is a very entertaining story about a man stuck in two worlds. One is the present (Denver oddly enough) and the other is set several million years in the future. Even weirder its a christian story with some questions about god in it, this is more than his other book three where the main character just happened to go to seminary.
When in Horsham I headed home and unpacked. I then pumped up both the tyres on the bike that Beth will be inheriting when we get married. My plan was to cycle and get a feel for the bike but this did not work out as the brakes are too tight against the wheels and the rear had a puncture. I walked it to my grandparents then and set to work with my grandfather replacing a bolt and fixing the tyre. Tomorrow will probably take a trip to Halfords and sort the breaks out as well.
At lunchtime I headed into town and met Paddy, we ate at the christian centre and talked to Doug as well. After eating I got Paddy suited for the wedding and then we headed to Tanbridge via Neil’s house (to drop off an invite for the wedding). We got to Tanbridge 5mins before the bell went for the end of the day and so waited around and then headed up to the familiar history corridor. We talked to Mr Head for around an hour and a half before heading home. We discerned that he may be coming to my wedding and that he hated Indiana Jones. In other news he also wants to die in the classroom while teaching because he figures it would be entertaining. I got my money off Paddy for his trip to America and spent the rest of the evening playing games, watching Football and sleeping. The Germany vs Turkey game for the record was very entertaining fingers crossed for Russia vs Spain tomorrow.

this morning I had the joys of waking Beth up to go to church as I often have to do when we are in Horsham. The service being a parade service was slightly more dumbed down than usual but it was a good service. Afterwards we talked to Philip Duffin our organist for the wedding and Beryl who is doing the church flowers and then headed into town. Due to my mothers worrying we went to Moss Bros where I tried on some suits for the wedding. We sorted out what we wanted after about half an hour and paid the whole lot in one go, we are now £434 lighter than we were before… nice. We went home for lunch and then at 3pm met David Chapman for a marriage lesson he asked some relatively probing questions but I think he was happy with the strength of our relationship and it was useful for us as it gave us a chance for a third person to asses ourselves and let us delve into areas we may not have been before. Beth also asked about becoming a Methodist and we set a date for that on the 7th July when our next marriage class is. After our time with David we went home and tidied my room getting rid of things I was never going to use again and for a change it wasn’t solely Beth’s idea.
In the evening we had a BBQ which was done by my father and was very good. I then went round to Granddads house for a short while and sorted him out with his new computer. I got his problem of not knowing how to install his printer sorted quickly and was soon home again. 10mins later we were on the train back to London so it was a pretty hectic end to the day. During our time in Horsham I also showed Beth my old bike and she said I should do it up for her as a wedding present… suits me.
When we got back to London we told my parents the journey had gone well but that we had gone the wrong way and were trying to find our way out of Portsmouth. They fell for it and humour ensued.

You have probably noticed that I have written all of the blogs for May so far now, any further advances in blog writing and I will let you know.

Also just a note that the links to our wedding lists are now in the status box so if you would like to get us a gift for our wedding that is where to go. For the Debenhams one you will have to put either my name or Beth’s to get to our list.

I had work today, obviously. It was a busy day not least because Rob didn’t come in, nice and reliable. I met Cathy for lunch and we ate by the river as it was such a nice day. I then followed her around for half an hour as she handed out cv’s in a way where none were handed out as she is rather picky. I left her abstaining from handing one in and went back to work. Malin let me leave 10mins early so I could catch a train back to Horsham. I got in at around 7pm and went straight to church for the annual Christian Aid quiz night. This year we were once again the smallest team except for Helen joined the team instead of Beth… oh and there was no David. It was a good quiz but a lot of it was too challenging. We ended up coming 6th out of 9 which ain’t too bad having half the manpower and especially as we were last halfway through. When we got home I watched Match of the Day and was delighted to see that Fulham won 2-0 against Birmingham thus seeing them move out of the bottom three for the first time since maybe November. We just need a win against Portsmouth next week and we are guarenteed to stay up. With Portsmouth having one eye on the FA Cup final the week after that might be an easier task than usual. Bring it on!

I knew today was going to be essentially another day of work as I had a lot to accomplish essentially meaning that with tomorrow included I will have worked for the last four days. The day started with my getting a train to Horsham at 8:50. I met Beth and my family at church for the morning service which had a good sermon. We then drove to Crawley and had a relatively rubbish lunch in a dining area that borders on a small version of what I experienced at the mall in America. Our purpose for being in Crawley, however, was not to eat rubbish food but to create our wedding list which meant ‘zapping’ products we wanted in Debenhams. From looking at the top of this blog you will see the fruits of our labour. It was quite tiring work as I argued about several of the things Beth wanted to add for the sake of adding. Like adding a toaster solely because they had them even if none of them took my eye as being particularly worthwhile. We eventually finished and had free coffees on debenhams… which weren’t that nice. My father bought me Harlan Coben’s new novel Hold Tight from Sussex Stationers and so it was a good trip to Crawley.
At 5pm Beth and I went to my church for the second time today and met with David Chapman the minister to go over the plans for our wedding again. We gave him the marriage certificate we picked up a couple of weeks ago and showed him our mock order of service. He suggested a couple of changes and set up with us some dates for a marriage preparation course, therefore it was productive. Upon arriving home I watched a recording of the Spanish Grand Prix which wasn’t too boring but was a bit of a procession. We then took the train home with Craig and Demelza.

I had a lazy morning today which was nice as it gave me some time to myself to relax. Beth also had a lazy morning as she managed to sleep until 11am. After lunch we headed to the station and went back to University. The train journey was pretty quick and painless as seems to be the case when not travelling at a stupid time of the day (oh rush hour how I will not miss thee). Upon arriving Beth dropped her stuff off at her flat and then I went to my flat and unpacked. Beth came over at 5 and we got Chinese with Louise who also arrived back today. It was good to be back in my flat after a couple of weeks.

This morning I ended up waking at 6:15 and not being able to get back to sleep, I therefore decided to work on the crownbookshorsham website which now looks much nicer but not quite to the point of me putting a link up. At 9:30 Beth and I headed with a nice lady named Angie who I have met before while go-karting at one of my cousin David’s birthday parties took us to a flower wholesalers to go over ideas for our wedding. It was a little dull for me but I gave my opinion and looked attentive. In the afternoon Liam came round and I tried the wii version of Pro Evo Soccer which is very very complex for a football game. We then played a little bit of Toca 2 and then he went home. Beth and I meanwhile went into town and bought our wedding rings from Horsham’s two family jewellers Wakefields and one I can’t remember the name of. Beth is getting a very pretty leaf design while I am getting a relatively normal gold band. We also went to the Centre while in town which was good for Doug as his emails weren’t working so I found the problem to be a spam blocker blocking all emails. I then set about showing him his new classier website. We walked home from town with my father and in the evening went around to Nanna and Granddads to console them about the loss of their cat and also to talk to my Aunt Andrea.

I made sure this morning that I actually got up on time to have breakfast before going to work. I must admit that getting a train at 7:25 in the morning does not really appeal to me even though I am an early riser. Work itself was good today, we were not overly busy but there was enough to do throughout the day that it passed quickly. I also had to help a kindly lady (who does not look dissimilar to an older version of my Auntie Andrea) to take some gifts to a homeless man asleep on a shop front. I think she was a little afraid he might have awoken when she gave him things and caused a scene of sorts but I was happy to oblige. The train home was relatively boring as it went the long way via Sutton, I just listened to my ipod whilst reading the days paper. When I got to Horsham I met up with my family and we went out for a curry which was very nice although possibly not as nice as it used to be due to the slightly more downmarket image a buffet has in my head. It was a nice evening though, even if it was another tiring day for me.
