Games of 2011

Posted on January 9, 2012 by No Comments

I feel like I missed out, the biggest two games Skyrim and Skyward Sword I have yet to play. In fact I only played 9 games that came out in 2011.

5. Dirt 3 – Xbox 360
Dirt 3 removed the few bad parts of Dirt 2 and introduced some great tracks and racing. The return of split screen gaming was fantastic and the multiplayer added a lot of value. Its just a shame they had to shoe horn in gymkhana nonsense.

Film of the year 2011

Posted on January 8, 2012 by 3 Comments

Last year I complained about the quality of the films released. This year I had no such issue and the films I saw were all largely superb. I got away with seeing just one 3d movie this year but although it was largely redundant it actually worked well in tintin and the experience was not poorer for it. I guess that is testament to what Spielberg can do. Below are the Canterbury Littles’ top 10s for 2011.

Beth:
10. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
9. Senna
8. Source Code
7. Cars 2
6. Harry Potter
5. Horrible Bosses
4. Attack the Block
3. Sherlock Holmes
2. Bridesmaids
1. King’s Speech

Sporting events of 2011

Posted on January 5, 2012 by No Comments

After declaring 2010 too bad for sport and thus palming off this list to me my father has returned to give judgement on 2011.

Top 5 sportsmen of 2011
Drew Brees for breaking Dan Marino’s yardage record.
Jenson Button for coming ahead of everyone except Sebastian Vettel
Dai Greene for winning the world 400m Hurdles and for being Welsh
Nathan Cleverly for being Britain’s only remaining boxing World Champion (and for being Welsh)
Mark Cavendish for winning Sports Personality

Remembering 2011

Posted on January 1, 2012 by 1 Comment

So 2011 is over. The year will be remembered on a larger scale for the sparking of uprisings throughout the world. But more locally these are the five things I did that I will remember most.

5. Karting
While I won again that wasn’t the key thing. I had lots of fun with friends and family on the track at the meals afterwards and I hope that will continue in 2012 with races likely in February, August and November/December. I also had more experience of outdoor karting racing around Surbiton and Bayford Meadows. The latter is superb and gave me my first proper race against proper foes. Unfortunately the rain scuppered my opening race fourth place. Bring on 2012′s racing.

2011 Championship – Round 2 Surbiton

Posted on September 26, 2011 by No Comments

We like Surbiton. We headed there in March for the first time and went back on a lovely August day. Possible rain thankfully held off just for us with precipitation within a couple of miles. Track conditions were perfect and after we had calmed Cathy’s nerves we were ready to go. We went with a semi reverse grid again and therefore lined up like this:
1. Beth Little
2. Beverley Little
3. Ceri Almrott
4. Cathy Leopold
5. Trefor Little
6. Thomas McCorkell
7. Patrick Hill
8. Jonathan Little

Wii Frustrations

Posted on May 30, 2011 by 2 Comments

The Nintendo Wii in March became just the second system ever to die on me. The first death was entirely my fault as I tried to escape GCSE revision to play PS2 games. Having had the power lead confiscated I decided to plug the power lead from my printer into it. It fitted, what could possibly go wrong? Well it fried the PS2 and surprisingly I still passed my science GCSE despite forgetting about amps, volts and wattage.

Easter

Posted on April 25, 2011 by No Comments

I hope that everyone had a great Easter, I know I am enjoying my bank holiday having just gotten back from America on Sunday.

I did also manage to sleep through the Easter morning service I was supposed to be attending (yey jetlag). On the plus side my holiday did not stop me from completing the Christian Aid Count Your Blessings during lent. I hope that some of you joined me in raising money for this good cause over the lent period.

So time for my totals.

The theme for this week is shelter.

Here are the thoughts for the third week:
Monday 04 April
In Cambodia, landmines and unexploded ordinance continue to kill and maim: 87% of victims are civilians.
Give 10p for every street you have walked down today without being injured.

Tuesday 05 April
Unemployment in Zimbabwe is estimated at 94%, forcing many people to live miles from home to find work to support their families.
Give 10p for every time you have been in touch with a member of your family this week by email, letter or phone.
