Ebay – again

Posted on March 8, 2010 by jonners992 Comments

So this morning I got around to picking up Adobe CS2 from the post office. On the way home I opened it up, I found that the disc was two tones of white and the image on the disc was slightly compressed. Expectations were therefore not that high when I got home and chatted with Adobe via their website. I gave them the product key and they informed me that the key was not valid. Yey for more non-official products on ebay.

Using ebay is no longer an enjoyable experience

Posted on March 5, 2010 by jonners991 Comment

Back in November Craig gave me a phone to sell on ebay, a week after that I tried placing it on the site only to find that the adding process would not complete even though all required and some non-required fields were filled in correctly. I put this down to a small bug that would be fixed and left it – granted Craig would have preferred I didn’t leave it as long – until two weeks ago. This time the item added fine and I was happy enough with the ebay fees of £5 or so for listing the item on the site as we expected it to go for a lot more money. I’ll just say I am sure neither ebay nor paypal used to take such a large share of the monies generated.

First DVD you ever bought or owned

Posted on March 3, 2010 by jonners992 Comments

A couple of months ago during my film of the decade voting someone (possibly my father) suggested I should do a topic regarding what everyone’s first DVD was. His was godzilla which apparently is one of Cathy’s favourite films. That was back in the day when it was still a relatively new technology. Although DVD’s first came into existence in 1995 I believe it was around the year 2000 that we got our player, not 100% on that my father can probably clear it up.

Tidying up a bit

Posted on February 15, 2010 by jonners99No Comments

I have tidied up some parts of the blog template that have been annoying me for a while. At the same time I have also added a new feature.

The categories are now near the top so they are easier to find, still not perfect but definitely an improvement. At the same time I’ve improved the twitter widget I am using and also added my xbox gamercard as well. If you have an xbox feel free to add me. I have also added the link to my amazon wishlist back in as well in case you have a need to buy me something… not sure why you would but just in case…

Y’know what Top Gear is right

Posted on February 15, 2010 by jonners99No Comments

Top Gear was right even if it was meant solely to incite hatred in Alabama when they announced that ‘nascar sucks’.

This year I have again tried to watched the Daytona 500… For the first 120 laps of the race it held my interest and I thought it was an interesting thing to have on in the background while doing other things. I watched the 2009 race and they called it off for a small shower. That is wimpy and dumb, certainly I can see why the way nascar and indy car runs it would be near impossible to maintain in the rain. People are there to see a race not to see caution flags thrown because of a bit of rain or a driver losing a wing mirror…

What I’ve been working on

Posted on February 14, 2010 by jonners99No Comments

You may or may not know that several months ago my friend Craig and I launched (well almost) our own hosting website. I’ll tell you more about that in another post in the future when we have finished tinkering. Part of that process meant signing up as being self employed, I thought that I’d take the opportunity to earn some extra funds and build websites for people in my spare time. Well the first of those websites has now been launched.

My fame knows no bounds…

All I did was post an innocuous little comment on the BBC website about how Peugeot and Citroen should evaluate the 107 and C1 respectively because the accelerator has a habit of sticking and I get a call from the BBC asking me to be on the radio that night. Well, as nervous as the idea of being on radio may have made me, I couldn’t exactly say no to that kind of opportunity, could I?

Here is an audio of my radio debut… I don’t sound too retarded.

Touch Screen is not the future

Posted on January 27, 2010 by jonners991 Comment

While the gimmick of 3d has rather stolen the title of overhyped technology in the past couple of months its predecessor the touch screen is still a powerful force. With Apple set to announce its widely rumoured tablet pc later today and the iphone being the most popular phone handset in the western world it seems that we are going to have a lot of people using poor input devices.

Games I am looking forward to in 1st half of 2010

Posted on January 26, 2010 by jonners99No Comments

This is a list of the games that have already been announced that I am excited about in the next five months. The fact is that it appears that most of the good games coming out this year are coming in this period due to the Modern Warfare 2 effect experienced at the end of last year.

In relative chronological order then:

Mass Effect 2 – Xbox 360 – 29th January 2010
