Got up at the daft time of 7:45 and then sat around for a bit not knowing what to do. My dad came and announced he’d left me money and was off to work. He texted me half an hour later to tell me that a store called silverscreen was shutting so I decided to see what deals they had. I got dressed and had breakfast quickly. I then decided to pack up all my stuff and then the post arrived. A couple of weeks ago I may have announced that I won Madden 2006 on ebay and it finally arrived. This was a fat lot of use to me now as I was to go back to uni today for 4 days. I went to town and visited Silverscreen who had 10% off everything. I can explain exactly why the company is now in administration, their goal was an admirable one trying to get by just selling DVD’s and it worked for a very short time. Their problem was that they are too expensive they are still selling DVD’s at £19.99 which is obscene for a chain to do especially when some are £5.99 in other stores. I went in there expecting a good deal or two but even with the money taken off they were too expensive. I could have run the company better simply by trying to get a lower profit off each sale. Fact is they were probably getting these £19.99 dvd’s for £8 from their supplier, add onto that VAT and it might go to £10 then they are doubling it to get their profit, this is why they are in administration, why pay £19.99 for a new film when you can get it for £12.99.
Anyway I went back via choices and got a copy of Signs by the masterful M Knight Shyamalan (spelt wrong) for £5.99 (£19.99 in silverscreen). Good film, I walked home and collected myself before going off to the station. On the train I finished Princess Bride by William Goldman and it was a superb book. It is very rare indeed for me to read 400pgs in a week!
The train journey was relatively quick and I got a lot of reading done before we pulled into Clapham Junction. When I arrived at Barnes I was feeling lazy and so got the bus from the station to the university. On arriving I unpacked my stuff before going to collect two packages, the first a clicker to coincide with the deodrant adverts with Ben Affleck and the new product. Next came tickets for the Kaiser Chiefs concert next friday which I had completely forgotten about. I went with a premade lunch into Be’s room and stayed there for quite a long time. After eating we went for a walk around the university campus and spent the rest of the afternoon lying around.
At 6ish Jess came over and we had Pasta for dinner then at 8 Cathy came up and we all watched Mission Impossible which was better than I remembered though rather cheesy. After this film Cathy and Jess left and me and Be watched the superb remember the titans which is a football film for those who don’t know it. After this we lay about on my bed a bit before going to our seperate beds. Tomorrow I will detail the reason I woke up at 3am (if you couldn’t guess), also Be has written a new weekly Be in musings and two new articles for the main talote website which can be accessed from the home page. Interestingly she is fifth on google when you type in her name for her article about Capote!
